The World is Thirsty

You must be filled with the Holy Ghost. Declaring this biblical truth is as important in fulfilling the Great Commission as preaching the need to be saved by grace through faith in Jesus. Regardless of the seemingly divisive doctrinal discussions that often ensue, it is foolish to think that we can know the power of Pentecost without fully embracing the gift of Pentecost. He, the Holy Spirit, is the only one who knows how to throughly, accurately, and forcibly execute the dominion of Christ in this modern time.

The world is not reeling from spiritual drought due to a lack of evangelistic fervor. People are perishing from spiritual thirst due to a lack of living water which is meant to flow out of the bellies of those who have been filled by the Holy Ghost (John 7:38-39). The apostles of Acts 8:14-17 recognized that they could not be satisfied with merely a flood of new confessing converts. Hence the fact that they called upon Peter and John whom God used to fill the Samaritan believers through the laying in of hands. Interestingly, the texts says “After they went down there, they prayed for them, so the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit. For He had not yet come down on any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.” To believe is one step, to be filled is another.

This is why everyone who calls themselves a Christian must in this day and time answer the sobering question found in Acts 19:2, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” If not, now is the time to seriously go after the gift of Acts 2:38. Ask, seek, knock, believe and receive. Then expect something powerful to happen to you and through you. #Luke11v13
